"If I could not be persuaded into doing what I thought wrong, I will never be tricked into it."
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen revolves around the protagonist of the novel, Catherine Moorland, a tomboy who grew into an avid reader, and her journey to Bath with her neighbours, the Allens, and later to Northanger Abbey with the Tilneys.
While residing in Northanger Abbey, Catherine's misconceptions about the death of Mrs Tilney leads her to doubt Mr General Tilney for the murder of Mrs Tilney, was all the result of her imagination that she formed by taking inspiration from her gothic novels, which causes disappointment and embarrassment. She was disappointed upon finding Northanger Abbey well maintained with all sorts of modern comfort as she has always imagined Abbeys hiding some horror stories inside as shown in the fiction horror stories. Her affection and love for Mr Henry Tilney also increased while residing there and her feelings were equally reciprocated by Mr Henry Tilney.
Everything was going fine in Northanger Abbey, everyone was so fond of her and she was very happy residing there until one day she was forced to leave Northanger Abbey uncivilly by Mr General Tilney. She has to go to her home entirely alone and unattended.
What was the reason for such brutal and uncivilized manner of Mr General Tilney? What happened to lead to a sudden change in Mr General Tilney's behaviour? What will Henry do now? Catherine will find her love or not? To get answers to all of these questions you have to read Northanger Abbey and then discovered that what happened to Catherine later on.
Now, let me tell you about my experience with this book. I didn't enjoy the book very much. For me, this book was a total disappointment and I find it slow to read, but anyway I finished this book. I sensed that the book was overstated.
"There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature."
