A Girl Named Dara

Book Name: A Girl Named Dara

Author: Tom Flynn

Genre: Fiction

"A Girl Named Dara" penned by Tom Flynn revolves around the central character Dara, a beautiful Belarusian girl, which is quite obvious from the cover and the title itself. The story takes us through the college hustle-bustle of Jeff Newcastle, who falls in love with Dara, after seeing her in the first class of Poetry. Somewhere deep down Dara knew that she won't be able to carry a normal relationship with Jeff. So she always keeps running from him and she tried to set him up with a sweet girl Carey, a friend of Naomi, girlfriend of Jeff's roommate, Dylan. No matter how hard Jeff tried, he just can't get over Dara, he can't see Carey in the same light as he sees Dara, he can't connect with Carey as he connects with Dara.

Firstly talking about the cover, the cover itself arose much curiosity, in the reader's mind when the eyes fall on this mysterious blue-eyed girl shown on the top of the cover. When I started reading the novel, my excitement was getting multiplied as I was finishing the chapters to dwell more in the life of Dara, to know more about her. When in the end, I came to know the reality of the quiet, composed and reserve girl Dara, it shook me from inside. The blunt truth of her life broke my heart.

Talking about the language and the narration style, the language and narration style is lucid and easy to comprehend. Kudos to the author! He was successful in arousing the curiosity in the reader's mind only by the cover of the book and he has multiplied the curiosity as the novel progresses till the end. I would recommend this book to those who love reading mysterious stories. Do read to know about the life of this mysterious, blue-eyed girl, Dara and to know what happened with Jeff and Carey.
